Disc priests, what do you put in a blue slot when you want the socket bonus? SP/Spirit? Crit/MP5? I'm so confused. :(
Edit: All done, you may delete your characters. Ty ladies! <3
After hearing about the tremors, and the Cataclysm chatter, me and my best friend decided to roll newbie Night Elves and start over. Our intent was to read all the quests, observe any differences, make note of any changes. Also, we were kind of...scrap booking our adventure so that when Cataclysm DOES hit and things change, we've got the screen shots to see what it was like.
We noticed that the Night Elf starting area has been changed a bit. We're not too sure how long it's been like this, but I've rolled and re-rolled dozens of Nelves, and didn't notice until last night.
Some of the quests have been changed. Minor changes really, but changes none-the-less.
We also noted the size/body type of some of the cats seemed to have changed. As well as the spiders being yellow now instead of red.
One NPC I noted was Melithar Staghelm. I will be the first to say, I'm slacking on my lore. But I recognized the name Staghelm, wiki'd him and saw that there wasn't any info about his namesake other than that he shares it with Fandral.
Then, in Dolonaar, I see Athridas Bearmantle. Again, I recognized the name (Hey, I bought Broll's action figure since i've got a happy for all things druids....)
And wowwiki also has no info on him. Are any of you ladies familiar with them and know if there's more to them than just sharing a name?
Next on our list of things "to-do" was to go to Darnassus and see the High Elf. I screen capped the conversation between him and the sentinel, and was uber excited for all the stuff we were learning and all because we were slowing down and taking the time to read the quests and listen to NPC banter.
Next, we logged into our 80's and went to IF. In the process of goofing off, we felt the tremors someone had mentioned in the post yesterday that got us all excited to start this adventure. It was quite exciting.
So, to recap:
Melithar Staghelm & Athridas Bearmantle; Do any of you ladies know anything more? I'm slow on reading the books/comics, but was wondering if mayhaps something may have been mentioned somewhere. Or if these two NPC's were destined to forever be in the shadow of the two they share names with?
Also, have any of you started newbies and explored in other areas and noticed anything different? (besides Northshire since IIRC they've changed the wolves out there). Specifically other Alliance races or Horde? According to a friend on Horde side, all arcane entities in the Blood Elf starting area are now passive instead of aggressive.
Third, is there anything you're doing before Cataclysm that you'd like to have done before it hits?
EDIT: As a side note, most things we noticed we're not implying that it's cata related or hasn't been there at all, just that we noticed it basically because we slowed down and read quests and paid attention to what was around us instead of zooming through.

Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just "lucky"? :p
I play on a PvE server. Have always done so, always will (with the occasional forays onto RP realms). The only "PvP" I do is the occasional WG (and then I usually hide in a machine once I've ranked up enough XD ). But I'm having a torrid love affair with BoAs. They make leveling so much easier, and more fun for me since I just plow through everything. I can also focus on learning new classes without the constant "OMG gonna die!".
Yet I've gotten asked several times if I'm a twink (I'm level not-ending-in-9!). I may be in the PvE sense, but not the PvP. I've also had more horde try and pick fights with me on my BoA-wearing characters than ANY of the ones I leveled without. Stuff like killing my quest npcs to try and make me flag. Sigh.
Is there something about BoAs that says "Kill me now!"? Seriously...
But on a lighter note, I also have a squee (with a pic!):

Yes! It's that time of day and year where you can sit down and watch horror movies to make you puke!

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind PVP. I enjoy BG's, and even defending against For The Horde achievements. Last night though was so not cool though.
I was questing up in Darkshore with my NE druid alt, and I went to sell some stuff off at the travelling salesman on the Longshore beach. Well a hordie was stealthed on him and when clicked on what I thought was the salesman I flagged PVP and the hordie one shotted me. All I could say was WTH!!! I'm lvl 18 and your lvl 80 (lvl 74 friend of mine had just shown up to hand me something and told me the hordie lvl)!!! Where's the honor in that???
What made it worse was when a few of my guildies showed up to avenge me, there was an alliance guy there yelling at us for killing the hordie, swearing at us and other things not appropriate for writing. Again, WTH???
I ended up logging on my main on that server ( a currently lvl 38 gnome lock) and joining in the defense of the SW King. I ended up getting 3 achievements in two attempts by the horde, with 16 HK and at least 4 deathblows in one round before logging for the night.
I feel better now :-)

Lately I have been bouncing around from toon to toon and not really doing anything on my paladin, haven't raided in a few weeks or even done the new Icecrown stuff. Most raids in the past I've ended up healing (was dual spec ret and holy), which I don't mind helping out with at all but I've come to realize I really don't like pali healing compared to druid or shaman healing on my lower alts. So I did something very expensive and switched ret to prot, since my holy gear is mostly higher level than my ret stuff... plus I felt a little guilty about not being able to heal if needed. I made 4 titansteel things for her, bought some blues off the AH, and spent a few emblems on a new libram. But I've still got 6 things that are not tanky - armory.
I know I'm not ready for heroics with that gear, maybe not with that spec either (was going mostly by the post on the WoW pali forums) but do you think with some practice I could do some regular instances? ToC perhaps even? Please feel free to correct me on spec, gear, etc.

So my boy and I decided we are going to faction change from alliance to horde. I am going to miss my sexy draenei girl (the cute chibi in my user pic). But its one of those 'for the best' things. And if it doesnt work out, I can always faction change back out of it. Since we aren't server transfering, I am going to probably change my name as well.
Anyone have some good name reccomendations for a soon to be Belf?
I was thinking Araushnee (kudos to you if you get the refference!)
As for the worst LFG ever, two retards have made it to my ignore list. Why? I randomed into HOL (normal because I am still gearing up... almost to tanking heroics). And apparently these two retards had chosen this dungeon becuase they were already up ahead pulling the boss back towards everyone else. I had signed up as Dps/tank and was still in the middle of specing back to ank while they were doing this. The rest of the party whiped. I thought about leaving then and there, but decided to stick it out. One DPS left, leaving us a dps short. While waiting for the LFG to provide us with some deeps, I pulled ONE trash mob, one. I wanted tro sort of see the DPS of the two hunters and also to test them out before the first boss. To my dismay, one of the hunters intentionally pulled the boss with his pet and started firing. The other hunter ran the other fucking way back to the door as the idiot hunter goofed around kiting the boss and trying to use various traps on it. No surprise he died. I didn't even try to take it off him. If he was stupid enough to pull the boss, he could tank it.
The hunter who ran away went LOL YOU GOT TURNED INTO BONES. In caps, like that. The hunter who had died, then goes lol, brb getting serious pet. we were still mid boss fight, the healer and I were still alilve. I bailed group then. I feel bad for ditching the healer, but I wasn't going to pay for a wipe caused by two idiots pulling crap like this intentionally.

We got a new guy in our guild, a dps/tank warrior who seemed to know what he was doing. He was giving people fairly decent advice, but he was grating on my nerves a little, getting kinda know-it-all-ish. He means well and just wants to help, I know this, so I let it go.
He asks if anyone wants to run heroics, him as a tank. Sure! He, a holy priest friend, a shadow priest friend, and myself (mage) all went for it. H AN comes up and I'm like, great! A quick one. Let's roflpwn this shit.
( And the rest of this horrible story... )
Super tl;dr - worst AN run in the history of, well, everything. I had to vent here, it was just too fucking crazy not to.
How do you deal with new guildies who mean well, but don't know wtf they're doing? I suggest stuff, but he shoots me down, saying all he needs is his T9 badge gear and he'll be golden.
He just joined yesterday and he hasn't done anything to warrant a /gkick, but goddamn. He makes me want to pull my hair out and I definitely don't want to run anything with him sometime soon if he's tanking. I know everyone needs to start somewhere, but... man. :/

Today a guy known to our baby guild from a guild on a previous realm joined our ranks (we normally just run around and do heroics and have fun, nothing too serious)...He knew i was female from previous raiding situations and to be honest, the fact that im female has never really caused any of my guildies to really blink an eye...
However, within about 5 min of us being the only two online, he started to act really inappropriately and ask me things like 'give me vent sex' quickly followed by 'jks jks' and this happened numerous times
Even as a joke it felt like harassment, cos im sure it wouldnt have been the case had i been the only male member online...Yes ive spoken to the GM and ill be getting him to follow it up if it continues, but still....GRRRRR
and on that note, i wondered if this guy and many others like him may have been encouraged to act so sexist by situations like the one i encountered today...You know, the girl gamer that makes sure everyone knows shes a girl the second you enter the group
(Healer to tank she is going to heal): Your ass is mine.......Dont worry, its not weird cos IM A GIRL
Sigh

I have absolutely no guild to squee to so...!!
I was just doing a random group trying to get my pug pet and I got Utgarde Pinnacle. Easy, right? I wasn't even thinking about the blue Proto til my boyfriend (sitting on the other side of the room) said "good luck - hope the reins drop". Of course I laughed...everyone does. I've never seen it drop. And then it dropped. I actually screamed and scared the boyfriend! Rolled need and...I won!! I was bouncing up and down squealing. The boyfriend laughed at me and said he'd look at it when we both got back to Dalaran. To which I promptly showed off, took screenshots and posted! This is the only Proto I have. I *never* thought I'd get a Proto at all matter of fact. I'm not in a guild, haven't been able to find a raiding guild, and I gave up on the Green one ages ago. ( Read more... )

Ladies, enlighten me please?
I got the Kibler's Bits recipe this morning in my cooking daily, duly learned it and made some nummy bits for the guy's hunter pets. He had tamed Queen Shadra last night, and she was ferociously hungry, so we thought that would be good for her, right?
She's a spider.
Spiders are meat eaters.
Kibler's Bits are made of buzzard meat, same as buzzard bites (which she loves).
She won't eat them. He CANNOT feed them to her, because it says she doesn't like that food.
So much for "pet tested, hunter approved"???
What gives? Have you run into this before, or know what's up?
*truly baffled, and a little frustrated*
edit: typo, just logged in and discovered I was spelling it wrong, and my dyslexia is showing. whoops!

After some rather interesting LFG PuGs this weekend, both level 80 heroics and Wrath leveling dungeons, and finding out that if a person is cross-server, you cannot whisper them (or if there is a way, let me know!), how do you go about dispensing advice to cross-server PuGs? Or do you even bother? I don't like to embarrass people in party chat but I'd rather give people a chance before hitting the Vote to Kick button or leaving the group entirely.
So here's a few questions:
1) Do you give advice? Why or why not? How do you give the advice to the person?
2) If you were the person given advice, how would you react? Are you likely to listen to someone random?
3) Regardless of whether you give advice or not, how much time are you willing to spend in the dungeon before you either decide to Vote to Kick the poor performer, or leave the group entirely?

Today I was healing a pug and our warlock used an attack that drained his health (Hellfire?) while... overestimating how much health he had left. I tried to heal before it was too late, but alas, he was a Gnome corpse and there was nothing I could do about it.
He didn't seem to get that memo. He kept asking for a rez midbattle, but I couldn't tell him I was incapable of battle-rezzing because everyone else around me was trying to die. He kept asking and asking, in all caps and then just a 'HELLO' at me whilst I rolled my eyes and frantically switching targets. Thankfully, one of the other party members piped up that I was not, in fact, a druid-- I was a shaman.
The warlock still didn't understand, and after the pull I told him that only druids can b-rez. He apologized and all was cool, but it got me to thinking...
What are some common misconceptions people have had about your class or even their own? I know I assumed I needed spirit since I used mana, but it turned out the stat is basically useless for shamans.
So ladies, ~*enlighten me*~

I might be looking for a new guild here soon so just curious if there are any raiding guilds out there interested/looking for a feral dps druid? :)
Preferably I'd be looking for a mature, laid back and friendly guild who is currently working their way through ICC 10 or 25. I would also love to be working on more Ulduar hardmodes and trial of the grand crusader just for the pure sake of the challenge rather than gear. Though that would be considered a bonus and not a must.
My druid pretty much has gear for every spec but I prefer to dps as kitty. Her gear is mostly from ToC25 and ICC10. Her dps hovers around 5500-6000 overall on the meter, I'm usually sitting under those dern unholy dk's and rogues. I don't really feel comfortable linking my armory in such a public place but if you want to see it, let me know and I will PM it to you. :)
I'm a pretty active player... I always sign up and show up for raids on time prepared and ready to go, I also like running heroics(though I don't really need badges anymore) and working on achievements, etc. Horde or Alliance.. 10 or 25 doesn't really matter to me.. my only thing is no pvp servers, I avoid pvp like the bubonic plague. :D My schedule is pretty open right now so as far as days of the week goes, that doesn't really matter but raiding times I prefer around 4pm-12pm pacific time.

While I am a Noob to this Community I am not a Noob to WoW. I have been playing for almost 3 years. No, I do not have the T9 gear or even gear from battles grounds as all 3 of my 80's I pretty much solo'd there doing quests. No, as for my earlier post it was NOT intended to be on my personal blog (like I said, I am a noob on LiveJournal) and I was NOT trying to make anyone upset. I accidentally found the community while researching Gondria and had found a community that likes to help others as much I like to help others. The subject of my post was what happened to me while standing at Shadow Vault. I normally make my own gear or buy them from AH when I have the gold.
Could someone please tell me the posting rules here so I don't offend anyone in the future?

Is anyone else having trouble with the website?
I'm trying to log into my account online (going to assign my new authenticator) and it just keeps refreshing to the login screen. It's doing this on both worldofwarcraft.com and battle.net. I can log into the game just fine. :/
Anyone else having issues? Or is it something with my internet (tried it on two browsers now).
EDIT: I was finally allowed to log in... by going to the European site? I am baffled. I only tried this because my brother was apparently having trouble earlier with Hulu telling him he couldn't watch something because we were outside the US (but Vermont was still a state last time I checked...)

I play a paladin, and she's specced holy/prot. Today I promised a friend a run and upon swapping back to her prot spec (she's predominantly holy these days), I find she's missing Holy Shield, Avenger's Shield, and Greater Blessing of Sanctuary from her spellbook and her hotbar. She has a shield equipped, and Shield of the Righteous is still present in her book.
Needless to say this is a problem as those are three pretty vital spells for tanking. She still has the talents in her tree, and I can't re-buy them from a trainer.
Anyone having the same issue? I've already opened a GM ticket, but I am positively baffled.
